I’m Abdur. This is my second year both in the US and in BMCC. Also I'm the second child of my parents. I live with my mother and my younger brother in Bronx. I'm majoring in Science and taking pre-pharmacy courses in BMCC. My next goal is to take transfer to a professional pharmacy college. I was always a good student at English in my country, but like many other immigrants, I had little skill for putting my thoughts into paper in the form of an essay. However, after studying at BMCC for two years, I've learned some effective writing techniques which helps to improve my overall performance at writing. Now I can focus, understand, think, analyze, and express my words in my writing more easily and effectively. The Eng101 class has helped me a lot in this regard by finding my weaknesses in certain kind of writings and by showing the right methods to overcome them. This class has broaden my thinking ability through assignments on various different topics. Some small proofreading problems often exist in my writing, and I'm still working on them.
This is the paper I am submitting to be graded for my final portfolio. This essay tries to take position against the ongoing war on terrorism, by arguing that War is not the best solution to stop any kind of crime. When I wrote this essay, I employed my best efforts along with my imagination to show the various negative sides of the war and to come up with new thoughts and perspectives to bring an end of these revulsions by means of non-violent efforts. As a student, I always look forward to learn from my mistakes. So, feel free to make any kind of comment or to give any suggestion about my writing. Your advice is important to me.
