Professor Clark,

My name is Demonstration Page. I'm a student and I'm ten feet tall--I will tell you a little about myself, what I think, what I learn, what I want to do, and how I feel about my writing. I will explain what I've learned in this class, and what this portfolio should tell you about me. I'll include everything I think you should know when you think about giving me a grade.

I want you to read and grade only one of my papers, because I think it represents my best work. I will include a description of my best paper, why I think it's good, what I learned from writing it, and how it changed from one version to another.

Personal Narrative-DPage--This is the paper I am submitting to be graded for my final portfolio. The versions show this, and the versions don't show that. In terms of learning about writing, this paper gave me a better idea of this. When you read the paper, I want you to remember this, and I think I did a good job of that, and I think I still need to work on this. A story about something that happened to me, that makes a larger point. I include plenty of relevant and significant details in my story, and try to really make readers see, picture, and understand what happened, to get the same feeling and response to the event and the point that I had.

This is some of the other work I've done--feel free to look at it, but don't consider it for my grade.

Position/Argument Paper-Dpage--In this paper, I take a position on a controversial issue, and I defend that position. I try to argue and persuade the reader.

Research Paper/Criticism/Response--Dpage--In this paper, I read, view, listen, or experience something, and then I present my response--my critical response--to that piece. I go beyond summary, into criticism and analysis.

InClass Essay--Dpage--This is the paper I did to show how I could perform in class, with a 90 minute time limit--it's the equivalent of the final exam.

These are some of the comments I've received from my classmates.
